The Pampa Modelfighters (organisers of the famous Helcheteren jet event) have done everything possible tomake sure this event takes place as usual. For the last 3 weeks they have been in regular contact with the Belgian military and government, and until last weekend they were assured that it was OK to hold the event. 

But on Friday 20 April in the evening they were given the 'red light' by the Government, and told it was not permitted to hold the event at Pampa, because of 'MKZ/Foot and Mouth' disease. After many telephone calls at the weekend to try to find an alternative airfield, with no success, the Pampa Modelfighters have no choice except to cancel the event, and the airfield is now closed.

This decision has been made by the Belgian Government and it is unchangeable. The organisers have done everything possible to make sure that this event happened, especially for all the foreign pilots who have already booked ferrys and hotels. The Pampa Modelfighters hope that all of the pilots can understand that what has happened is out of their control, and hope to see you all at 'Jets over Pampa' in 2002.
